Practical Advice from Friends

I recently posted on my Facebook page the question:  What is one of the best pieces of advices you’ve ever been given?

It generated some great, pithy lines that are worth sharing with everyone.

  1. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
  2. Housecleaning can wait.  Enjoy your kids while you have them.
  3. Don’t waste your time with regrets.
  4. It is not smart to do dumb things.
  5. This too shall pass.
  6. Don’t start anything you will have to worry about quitting.
  7. No matter who you are with, always be yourself. Never try to be someone you are not.
  8. When people say hurtful things, consider the source.
  9. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
  10. Sometimes it is easier for things to stay the way they are than to put forth the effort to change them.  Pick what you want to change and put all your effort into it.
  11. Don’t stop living today because of what tomorrow may or may not bring.
  12. You can accomplish anything if you don’t care who gets the credit.
  13. Keep your man’s stomach and heart full.
  14. If you’re going to do something, do it right.
  15. Don’t drink the kool-aid.
  16. Your rights end where the next person’s nose begins.
  17. Buck up and go on.  There’s always someone who’s worse off than you.
  18. Never argue with an idiot.  It’s a waste of time.
  19. Take one day at a time.
  20. Pride comes before a fall.
  21. We are not in control.  God is.
  22. Smile and everyone will smile back.
  23. Let go and let God.
  24. Always treat others like you want to be treated.
  25. The only thing you have control over is your attitude.
  26. If you get married, think of the needs of your mate before your own.
  27. 96% of the things you worry about never happen.
  28. Everything works out for the best.
  29. You can’t walk on both sides of the fence.
  30. The only person who fails is the person who quits trying.
