Mission: Honduras – Day 6

Today final preparations were made for distributing our benevolent bags tomorrow for those who are in desperate need.  The team has been busy ever since we landed here breaking down the tons of food, clothing and hygiene products into smaller, family size proportions.

2013-07-13 13.06.56The contents of 100 pound bags of coffee, beans, rice and sugar have to be placed into these ziplock bags.

2013-07-13 13.07.33Each family will also get a bag of corn meal.

2013-07-13 13.07.57Plus pasta and shortening.

0716130936b[1]We will also have a set of clothing for the members of each family.

In total, over 300 families will receive one of the benevolent bags, containing food for one month, plus the clothing.

Today I also had the opportunity to travel to one of the local schools and thought I would share with you some pictures from there.

This is the walkway leading up (every path where we are in Honduras leads up!) to the school of 200 students.  Education is free for the first nine years of school.

The next few pictures show what kinds of things they put on their walls in the school.
