Tucker Hits the Big Time!

I’m incredibly excited to announce that I have signed a contract with Amazon Publishing to take over and manage the Tucker series.  This is an opportunity that fell into my lap unexpectedly.  On April 3rd, the Senior Acquisitions Editor from Amazon Publishing sent me an email expressing interest in our partnering together.  I really didn’t take it seriously, thinking it was some sort of scam.  But after doing research and swapping a couple of emails with them, I realized this was the real deal.

Part of what the Editor said to me was:  “I was intrigued by the unflinching look at Tucker and Ella’s family lives, and thought the characters were the perfect way to display the dichotomy between the two socioeconomic cultures and their shared struggles. I was also surprised at the skill and subtly of the writing. It’s not often that I read a novelist’s work that has a voice this secure, calm, and established. The customer reviews are fantastic – and I’d like to see the sales match the review intensity. With Amazon’s world class marketing and promotional acumen, I think we could take this series to a whole new level.”

After receiving their offer I spent lots of time praying, seeking counsel from others, and doing research.  I concluded that it was an opportunity that God had placed in my path and that it was the right thing to do.

I am indebted to so many people who helped this dream materialize, but the main ones to thank are the Tucker fans.  It was you that inspired me to continue Tucker’s story and the story of her family.  You helped spread the word by telling your friends and family about the books (120,000 copies downloaded!).  You posted reviews (over 700!).  Thank you so much for your support!

What’s going to happen now?  All of the Tucker books will go through a three stage editing process between a professional editor and myself.  There won’t be any significant changes to the storyline in any of them, but the writing should be tighter and more polished after the edits.  Sometime later this year I will shut down all my self publishing sites and Amazon will launch the series.

The biggest thing will be that I will be delayed in writing a new book for the series.  All my time is going to be taken up with the editing process.  I can hear a chorus of howls from all you Tucker fans at this bit of news.  I apologize, but there are only so many hours in the day.  Maybe it will make your appetite for more Tucker even that much greater!

Who knows?  Next stop may be Hollywood!!

  1. Great News! Congratulations! I’m looking forward to the 5th book to see Preacher’s 2nd career; the hint was dropped just at the right time in “March On.”

  4. I read the tucker series a few years ago. I was curious as to why so much of the original story was edited out. I felt the first books revealed the true history of each character.when I read the books a second time, they seemed rushed and less reality based.

    1. When Amazon publishing picked up the books they had to go through a complete re-editing process. Any time that happens things are going to be different in the new edition. I’m sorry you weren’t pleased with the final (newer) version.

  5. When will the audio be available for Who Will Hear Me When I Cry? My eyesight is too bad to read any more and I thought this entire series was available with audio. I’m really disappointed.
